With the release of her latest single, SITUATIONSHIP, she offers a playful and self-aware commentary on the complexity of modern relationships. Inspired by her own experiences, McKenna captures the lighthearted yet often confusing nature of situationships — a phenomenon that many listeners can relate to.
Released on February 14th, SITUATIONSHIP is an upbeat pop track that mixes catchy melodies with a relatable narrative. The song is about finding yourself in that awkward in-between stage: when you have feelings for someone, but neither of you are quite ready to define the relationship. McKenna’s witty, tongue-in-cheek lyrics deliver a refreshing perspective on something so familiar, reminding us that sometimes, the best we can do is laugh at the absurdity of it all.
What stands out most about McKenna’s music is her ability to blend personal experiences with universal themes. Her knack for tapping into the shared emotions of her audience while maintaining a sense of individuality is what makes her music truly resonate. As she puts it herself, SITUATIONSHIP is all about recognizing that sometimes things just aren’t that serious, and the best response is to have fun with it. Her humor and authenticity shine through, creating a track that is not only infectious but also deeply relatable.
Co-written with Don Wolf, SITUATIONSHIP features crisp production and a pop-driven sound that feels both modern and timeless. The single was recorded in Canada, a testament to McKenna’s commitment to bringing a fresh sound to her music. The result is a track that feels effortless yet polished, with an upbeat tempo that will have listeners dancing while reflecting on the playful complexities of modern romance.
For those who have followed McKenna’s career, SITUATIONSHIP is a welcome addition to her growing catalog of original work. With songs like Bad One, Strawberry Shortcake, and Whiplash, McKenna has built a reputation as a bold and innovative artist. Her music continually explores themes of self-discovery, relationships, and personal growth, but she’s also unafraid to show her fun, carefree side. Whether she’s tackling love, loss, or everything in between, McKenna does so with a distinctive voice that balances introspection with lightheartedness.
Beyond her studio work, McKenna’s presence on the stage is just as impressive. Having performed at major events such as New York and Paris Fashion Weeks and in Los Angeles, her live shows showcase her dynamic performance abilities and further cement her as a rising star in the music industry. SITUATIONSHIP is only the latest step in her journey, with more releases on the horizon and even a music video in the works to accompany the track.

Joseph DeAcetis: How has your struggle with anxiety, OCD, and depression shaped your approach to songwriting, and how do you hope to inspire others through your music?
McKenna Camille: All my life experiences shape my approach to and relationship with music. All I want is my music to feel real, to feel relatable and most importantly feel like it’s being written by an imperfect human.
Joseph DeAcetis: Your hit singles like Bad One and Strawberry Shortcake showcase a wide emotional range. How do you balance the vulnerability in your more serious tracks with the carefree energy in your more fun ones?
McKenna Camille: I write what I feel which is honestly the fun part about being a musician. With that, sometimes I’m sad sometimes; I’m happy and there’s not really a balance I have to worry about when I just do what feels right.
DeAcetis: With your impressive background in music and acting, how do you find a way to integrate your diverse talents when creating new material, and do you see these areas of artistry influencing each other?
McKenna Camille: I love working in front of the camera and behind so I try to get my hands on everything I possibly can. I like to do as much work on my own projects as possible
Joseph DeAcetis: As an artist who has performed globally at places like New York and Paris Fashion Week, how does performing at such high-profile events influence your creative process or approach to music?
McKenna Camille: Honestly, I’m just excited to have these opportunities. It’s been so great getting into the fashion week world.
Joseph DeAcetis: Your new release, Whiplash, is climbing the Indie charts. How do you see this single as a turning point in your music career, and what are you hoping fans will take away from it?
McKenna Camille: Whiplash was the first time I really felt like myself creatively. I hope I can go forward loving every song and every project the way I love Whiplash. I hope listeners will hear the levels of whiplash.
Joseph DeAcetis: In an industry where so many artists rely on social media to grow their following, how do you maintain authenticity while managing the pressure of public image?
McKenna Camille: For a long while I felt the pressure of social media, but after a year of social media detox I’ve found myself not feeling that pressure anymore. I post what I want, when I want and just leave it at that.
Joseph DeAcetis: You’ve had a diverse career already, from performing at Fashion Week to graduating from Tisch School of Dramatic Arts. How do you see your multifaceted background setting you apart in today’s music industry?
McKenna Camille: I think my love of dabbling in multiple sections of the entertainment industry is a big strength of mine and is the thing that sets me apart. I love learning new things and applying them to my own career.
Joseph DeAcetis: How do you feel about these tools with the rise of AI and new technology in music production? Do you see them as a way to enhance creativity, or could they dilute the raw, human touch in music?
McKenna Camille: I am very anti-AI, in most industries actually. I love humans and their creativity.
Joseph DeAcetis: As someone who grew up on a lake and has a deep connection to nature, have you ever found that these experiences influence your songwriting or the themes you explore in your music?
McKenna Camille: Growing up in nature will always be the biggest part of my life and my personality. Because of this, I would assume my music would be impacted by this.
Joseph DeAcetis: You’ve mentioned in previous interviews how music has been a way for you to process your emotions. Do you find that your fan base connects to those personal moments, and how does that impact your relationship with them?
McKenna Camille: I hope everyone connects to those emotions and moments I share. I try to be as open and honest as possible and I hope that is conveyed.
